How did Antonio Te Maioha become famous?

Antonio Te Maioha, a handsome well shaped actor, got international recognition as Barca from the series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”. Among his more recent works there’s the movie “Zoolander 2”, where he portrayed Maori Warrior. The actor from New Zealand, he managed to get international recognition.

Antonio Te Maioha wanted to become an actor from the earliest years. He acted in the street, when was finally accepted to drama school in New Zealand. He spent there several years and then started to work as a theater actor. He toured with Maori theater around his native country; they also travelled to USA and Great Britain.

Later Antonio Te Maioha started his career on TV.

He was casted as Buddy Haanui to “Shortland Street”. After that Anatonio portrayed Captain in “Xena: Warrior Princess”. Te Maioha propelled his career, when he got the role of Barca. It was not easy for an actor to work on this project, as it included numerous fights and homosexual love scenes. Some of episodes were shot in winter, while Te Maioha hero wore light leather suit. But his professionalism helped him portray Barca naturally and gain some extra kudos.
