How did Canelo Alvarez become famous? 

Canelo Alvarez is not just a boxer, he is a champion. His career way, which started, when he was a schoolboy, continues till now and it is marked with numerous victories and awards. What did he do to become so popular?

So, that’s his story.

Frankly speaking, boxing is in Canelo Alvarez’s blood. His elder brothers worked as professional boxers and he was inspired to start practicing it too. Box was necessary for Alvarez to protect himself too. Being red-haired, the boy was bullied at school, but when he has become one of the best in amateur boxing; his classmates stopped joking on his hair.

Later Saul got the nickname “cinnamon” or “canelo” (in Mexican) for his red hair.

Canelo Alvarez was trained by Chepo and Eddy Reynoso and they encouraged the boy to start a professional boxing. Canelo was just 15, when he started his career and most of his opponents were much older. But he managed to defeat 11 from 13 rivals and thus showed that he had come to win.

In 2011 Canelo has become a middleweight champion, having defeated Matthew Hatton.

Now Alvarez is preparing to the fight with Liam Smith. He is going to change weight category, having gained some extra pounds.
