Ernie was born in Baltimore to Beatrice Grey and Earnest W. Brown Sr. He tied the knot with his love Elaine in 1979 and he took her surname Lively. He chose to retain the name because it sounded sweet to him and it could become a great stage moniker as he was an entertainer. He is an actor is known for his roles in Passenger 57 (1992) and The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants (2005/2008) where he was a co-cast with his daughter Blake.
Elaine Lively (mother)
Elaine (nee McAlpin) is a talent manager and was married to Ronald Otis Lively. Apparently the name “Lively” came from her ex-husband Ronnie. While Elaine was married to him, she dropped her maiden name McAlpin and took on his’ as her new surname. They had three kids together but eventually split and she remarried Ernest Wilson Brown, Jr. Ernie and his new wife Elaine soon became parents to two kids; Eric and the pretty Blake.
