James Eugene Carrey is one of those few male actors known famously for their flexible facial expressions and highly energetic performances. He is a screen writer and impressionist that has created a niche for himself in the observational comedy genre. His life might look so rosy today but it is worth mentioning that it has not always been like that and the hilarious actor never shies away from sharing the financial struggles he had while growing up and how it shaped him.
Date of Birth: January 17, 1962
Zodiac Sign: Capricorn
At 15, he got his start as a stand-up comedian at a Toronto comedy club. Two years down the line, he left the factory job he was doing as a janitor (they were poor so he had to work to support the family) and continued making a living as an entertainer. One thing led to another and he was granted a regular role on the hit series In Living Color (1990 – 1994). His big film break was when he played the titular character for the comedy movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) and from then on, his expressive face and expert mimicry sills kept the hits coming. His son finally became a successful entertainer and this eased the stress off their family until Percy died in 1994 of lung cancer and complications from Alzheimer’s.
According to Jim, his father’s failure inspired him to be a successful comedian as he believed Percy was gifted enough for comedy but in fear disguised as practicality, made a conservative choice and settled for his job in the financial sector.
