You might have heard about Pauly Montgomery Shore before, especially if you are a fan of comedy. The incredibly talented comedian, Pauly gained wide popularity due to his great performance in the 1993 film “Son in Law”, where he depicted the bad-mannered student Crawl, who occasionally appeared on Thanksgiving Day in the house of his friend Rebecca Warner (Carla Gugino). Shore’s other successful screen projects include the series “Entourage”, “The Midnight Gospel”, the film “How It Ends” etc.
Date of birth: February 1, 1968
Zodiac sign: Aquarius
He made his first breath in in Hollywood, California in the family of two comedians, Mitzi and Sammy Shore. Since their earliest years Paul helped his mother Mitzi to operate the Comedy Store, where many modern famous comedians cut their teeth. Pauly was just 17 when he debuted as a standup comedian at “Alley Cat Bistro” in the LA suburbs. In his early 20s, Pauly has already met his big break, having been hired as a VJ for MTV. Then, he debuted on the big screen in the comedy film “Encino Man”, which made Pauly’s face recognizable.
Nowadays, he is still an active member of the Comedy Store. As for his personal life, Pauly is not married and doesn’t have any kids. On November 4th, 2023, Pauly went down on one knee and popped the question to Daytime Talk Show host Drew Barrymore during the show. But it seems to be just a joke.
Pauly Shore parents
Sammy Shore (father)
Date of birth: February 7, 1927
Date of death: May 18, 2019 (age 92)
There’s no need to introduce Paul’s fans to his famous and very talented father Sammy Shore. With his wife Mitzi, Sammy was a co-creator of the community “The Comedy Store”, which discovered lots of new talents in the industry. Sammy passed away in 2019, but the memory of his great projects will always be alive.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, into the family of Lena and Hyman Shore. The future comedy star was raised alongside three siblings: Morris, Philip, and Bernard. The University of Miami graduate started his stand-up career in Catskills alongside another comedy star Shecky Greene.
He gained wide recognition in the late 1960s after he was selected to open Elvis Presley’s performance in Las Vegas. Sammy’s career lasted for 7 decades and included lots of interesting collaborations with such famous and talented people, like Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, etc.
He was also known as a comedy writer for such monologues as “The Man Who Made Elvis Laugh”, award-winning “70 Sucks!” and many others. He is responsible for many hit comedy albums and films, like “The Bellboy” with Jerry Lewis and “Life Stinks”.
He was married to another comedy star Mitzi Shore for 24 years and together they raised four children, including our protagonist Pauly.
After their separation from Mitzi, he re-married another woman, Suzanne Dennie, the former beauty queen of Alabama, and happily lived with her till his death at the age of 92.
Mitzi Shore (mother)
Date of birth: July 25, 1930
Date of death: April 11, 2018 (age 87)
Pauly was so blessed to have such a great mother as Mitzi Shore. Of course, he made up a decision to choose the career of a comedian watching his great-mother’s life. The daughter of the traveling salesman Morris Saidel and his wife Fanny, she was raised in the picturesque Green Bay, WI.
Mitzi was in her early 20s when she occasionally crossed paths with a rising comedy talent Sammy Shore and became romantically involved with him.
That was a great unit, which resulted not just with four kids, including Pauly, but also with great comedy projects. With the screenwriter Rudy De Luca, they co-founded a renowned club “The Comedy Store”.
In the early 1970s, Mitzi became the only operator of The Comedy Store, which she took away from Sammy after their divorce. After that, she became “the mother hen” for rising comedian stars. Due to her wisdom, many comedy debutants would later become household names. Thus, she discovered Eddie Griffin, Robin Williams, David Letterman, and many others.
She passed away in 2018 after an extended struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
Pauly Shore siblings

Scott Michael Shore is Pauly’s oldest sibling. He is a San Diego resident. Scott gained a reputation as a successful real estate executive there.
Currently, he is closely-knitted with Pauly. They spend as much time as possible together.
Sandi Shore (older sister)
Date of birth: March 31, 1955
Date of death: September 28, 2018 (age 62)
Soon after his mother’s death, Pauly got another stroke of fate. His beloved older sister passed away five months later. He dedicated a sweet post to her on Twitter, although didn’t discover the reasons for Sandi’s early departure.
Sandi Cee Shore was a comedy writing teacher, who trained many young performers. She didn’t have a family of her own but was a “mother” to many dogs in the neighborhood. She owned several pets, too.
Peter Shore (younger brother)
Date of birth: April 10, 1972
Pauly’s only younger brother is named Peter Shore. Like other members of his family, Peter devoted his life to comedy. He is a Comedy Store member, writer, and psychologist. Previously, he used to work as a TV director. Pauly’s brother resides in Portland, Oregon, and enjoys a calm cozy life there.
Peter has been happily married to an interior designer Vida, one year younger. They are raising two kids: Caleb and Lola.
It’s hard to tell, whether Pauly stays in touch with his younger brother. Back in 2004, Pauly launched a lawsuit against his sibling. The reason was his suspicions about Peter’s financial fraud with their mother’s Comedy Store. When Mitzi started suffering from neurological problems, caused by Parkinson’s disease, she had to leave her comedy club duties to her sons. Thus, Pauly was responsible for booking new talents, while Peter was overseeing the financial part of that business.
Soon Pauly accused Peter of embezzling the club’s money. Following that, Peter dismissed Pauly from his position on the Comedy Store board.
It’s not known if Pauly’s court complaint was upheld, but the brothers seem not to be close now.
