Tom who goes by the nick name “Old 98” was indeed many things while he was alive. First off, he was a football star; he started off from college football and eventually led his team to win several trophies. When World War 2 came, Harmon decided to be brave and serve as a pilot for the US Army Air Force. He was some near-death experiences during the war and was shot down one day near China. After this, he was demobilized and that ended his time as a US warrior.
After he was back from Air Force, he got married to his love and they lived on together in Los Angeles. He could not continue on the pitch so he opted for sports broadcasting which he did for six years. Tom Harmon suffered a heart attack on March 15, 1990 after he won a golf competition; he was rushed to the hospital but died shortly after.
Elyse Lillian Knox (mother)

Elyse was born in America as the daughter of Austrian immigrants. She studied in a fashion school and eventually embarked on a career in fashion design. Because of her good looks, Lillian was able to model her own creations and secure a high paying contract. She later went on to follow a career in acting.
Knox met Harmon when she appeared one time for a Bill Cosby radio show. Their relationship ensued after a while but they called it off when the football star decided to enter into the US army. In the time when Harmon was at the war zone, Knox got married to a fashion photographer Paul Hesse but it was a very brief marriage. Elyse died quietly in her home when she was 94 from no known cause.

Kristin was a primitive painter, occasional actress and an author. Her first marriage was to the famous actor and musician Ricky Nelson on April 20, 1963. After they became a couple, Kristin (nee Harmon) became a part of their family TV show and inevitably they continued their extravagant lifestyle. Her ex-husband Rick was always going on tours and generally their marriage was under severe strain. Harmon wanted Nelson to give up his career and stay at home more often but he apparently was too career-oriented to let go. They divorced finally in 1982 and sadly Nelson died in a plane crash in 1985. Before his death, they had four kids together.

So you must have heard that the Harmon star and his big sister have been in an unending family feud. Two years after Nelson’s death, Kristin began undergoing drug rehabilitation and Harmon together with his wife felt like she was not in the right frame to be the parent to their youngest son Sam. This custody battle continued for a while until Sharon made allegations of cocaine use by Dawber. This made Mark drop the case and was granted just visitation rights to see his nephew.
Kristin married TV producer and director Mark Tinker in 1988 and they divorced in 2000. While they were married, Tinker encouraged her to paint. She died of a heart attack.
Kelly Jean Harmon (elder sister from same parents)

Kelly like her mother was a model but later went into interior design. She first got married to automaker John DeLorean in 1969 then in 1984 got married to Robert Miller, a sports publisher. She married her long time lover in 1987 and they are a happy couple till date. The Dawber-Harmon couple are known to be very private with their personal life and are rarely seen in public together with their kids. Mark and Pam just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in the California home, they had in attendance family and close friends. It was an intimately emotional event with so many teary eyes as the couple of three decades read their vows.
