In 1956, he met the young singer named Anna Mae Bullock and they fell in love. She joined his band and they gradually developed a personal relationship. Turner helped her create the stage name Tina Turner and also the persona that came with it. Both singers were incredibly talented and soon started singing as a duo. Their soul-infused rock music style of music was a new one and their audience was always hyped.
In 1971, the R & B duo did a cover of “Proud Mary” and it made it to the top charts. This work eventually earned them their first and only Grammy Awards together. On stage, they looked like a match made in heaven but only a few people knew the life they were leaving off stage. Ike was a drug addict and a violent husband! The couple split in 1976 with Tina saying he had been repeatedly abusive over a long period of time and even burned her with cigarettes.

After the divorce from the “What’s Love Got to Do with It” (1984) singer, his career started dwindling as he was moving from one crime to the other.
